Tyler Marriott founded Sun’s Up and designs every system himself, from the customer’s own twelve months of bills. The person you talk to on the first call is the person who sizes the array, and the crew that installs it is the same roofers and electricians who do our roofing work. No sales team, no call centre, no subcontracted install. Our team has installed over 100 solar systems across Calgary and area since 2019.
Tyler finished at Mount Royal University’s Bissett School of Business in 2010 and has been building companies since: Marriott Garage Doors, then Level Up Garage Builds, where customers kept asking for solar on the garages he was building. That demand became Level Up Solar, which he co-founded and ran from 2022 to 2026 before starting Sun’s Up on his own.
Why roofing and solar together
A solar array lives on a roof for twenty-five years. Most solar companies have never replaced one. We have, which changes how we install: every rail goes into structure, every penetration is flashed and sealed the way a roofer does it, and we won’t put panels on shingles that should be replaced first. When a roof and a system are done by one crew, there’s nobody to argue with about who’s responsible if it leaks. It’s us.
What we won’t do
- Quote per watt from a desk. The price is fixed after we’ve seen the roof and the bills, and it doesn’t move on install day.
- Sell you a system that doesn’t pay. If the roof faces the wrong way or the bill is too small, the plan says so.
- Patch roofs. We replace them. A repair on an aging roof buys a season and costs you the price of doing it properly later.
- Knock on doors or pressure anyone. Read the plan, ask what you like, decide in your own time.
Where we work
Calgary and the towns around it: a radius we can service properly. If a panel fails in year seven, someone comes out.
