Why roofing and solar belong together

A solar system lasts 25 to 30 years. Asphalt shingles in Alberta last 15 to 25, less if hail finds them. Put panels on a roof with eight years left and you'll pay twice — once to take the system off and put it back, and again for the roof.

Most solar companies don't do roofs, so they don't raise it. Most roofers don't do solar, so they don't plan for it. We do both, which means we'll tell you honestly which one you need — including when the answer is that your roof is fine and we're not selling you one.

Hail

Calgary sits in Canada's worst hail corridor. A single storm can write off every roof on a street, and the difference between a claim that covers the work and one that doesn't is usually documentation. We photograph the damage properly, meet your adjuster on site and work to the approved scope.

Replacement, not repair

We only do full replacements. Patching an aging roof usually buys one season and costs you the price of doing it properly afterwards. If a repair genuinely is the right call for your house, we'll tell you and point you at someone who does them well.

Panels off, roof on, panels back

If you already have solar and the roof underneath has reached the end of its life, that's a specific job with its own sequence: decommission, remove and label, replace the roof, reinstall on new mounts, recommission and verify production. Having one company own the whole sequence means no argument about who's responsible if water appears near a mount.

Common questions

Should I replace my roof before installing solar?

If your roof has fewer than ten years of life left, yes. Panels last 25 to 30 years. Removing and reinstalling a system to replace the roof underneath costs real money and gains you nothing. If your roof is good for another fifteen years, we'll tell you that and leave it alone.

Do you handle hail damage insurance claims?

Yes. Calgary sits in one of the most hail-prone corridors in the country, and most roof replacements here start with a claim. We document the damage, meet the adjuster and work to the scope that gets approved.

Do you do roof repairs?

Can you take my existing solar panels off and put them back?

Yes, that's its own service. Panels come off, the roof gets replaced, panels go back on and the system is recommissioned. Doing it with one company means nobody argues about who's responsible if the roof leaks around a mount.

How long does a roof replacement take?

One to three days for most homes, weather permitting. Add a day if solar has to come off and go back on.
